About Us

Welcome to Nalmanam

Nalmanam is a registered voluntary organization functioning since 1999. Though it was officially registered under the Trust Act in 1999 it has been functional from 1993. Since its day of functioning it has been working for the deprived and under privileged of the community especially women and children in and around Chennai. Its main objective is to provide a better living environment of the much deprived and enable the children to get all the rights due for them. Our Institution caters to the needs of children especially parentless, single parent, terminally ill parents. It also caters to the economical needs of oppressed and depressed women especially from below poverty line status.

MISSION

Uplift the lives of under privileged women and children of the society through better living conditions in education, health and economy.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide basic needs and all rights of children in a residential environment.
  • To uplift the economical status of women by providing skills suitable to their needs.
  • To improve the health status of the society through medical camps, awareness programmes and screening camps.
  • To network with like-minded organisations, individuals and CBO’S for sustainability and enhance the knowledge through sharing of experiences and resources.

    • LEGAL STATUS

  • Registered under Trust Act (Reg. No. 595/99).
  • Registered under Income Tax Act 1961 (80G, 12AA).
  • Registered under Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Act 2015.

    • SOURCE OF FUNDS

  • Donations from Companies, Traders, Philanthropists on Special occasions.
  • Contribution by way of cash and kind by way of provisions, Stationaries, materials and need based requirements.
  • Maintenances charges collected from beneficiaries of various skill development activities (i.e.) Tailoring, Typewriting and Tuitions.(independent centres under the same premises).
  • Fund raising events conducted periodically for the purpose of financial stability.

    • These programmes are conducted which are usually of entertainment in nature. The proceedings of the tickets sold are utilized for the educational purpose of the children in the home.

    As we have some limitations of scaling up the number of children we have plans of constructing our own place in Thiruverkadu (outskirts of Chennai).

    We shall be coming out with the required details shortly separately.

    Regular donors are the back bone of the Organization who contribute whole heartedly for occasions of their kith and kin (we also give Income Tax exemption details for IT waiver).

    BALAJYOTHI

    A home for YOUNG LEADERS

    It caters to 15 children who are from different background especially parentless, single parent or who are terminally ill. All the children go to nearby schools.

    Nalmanam takes care of all their lodging, boarding and education.

    TARGET GROUP

    Socially deprived and economically weak children age from 5 to 18 .

    OBJECTIVE

  • To provide a standard education for the children.
  • To give a hand holding support for their emotional and psychological needs.
  • To provide employable skill to the students of their interest and get suitable placement.

    • STRATEGY: PSYCHOLOGIAL SUPPORT

    Initially when the boys arrive after necessary approvals and validations from the Child Welfare Board they are given psychological counselling to overcome their depressed situation. Proof of their date of birth and reference with acknowledgement regarding residence and situation analysis is documented and registered.

    EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

    All the enrolled children are put in the nearby schools. They are also given special coaching for the subjects who need extra attention. Boys who complete 8th standard learn typewriting courses from our Institution.

    SUPPORT FOR BASIC NEEDS

    All the children are provided with nutritious food, uniform, clothing and shelter with a care taker and warden. On special occasions they enjoy a sumptuous meal with special delicacies.
    Many of them visit us with their families during festivals and spend time with our children and have food together, which makes the children happy and cheerful.
